Principal Staff Engineer Performance Review Institute (PRI)
Nadcap is an industry-managed approach to conformity assessment that brings together technical experts from both Industry and Government to establish requirements for accreditation, to accredit Suppliers and to define operational program requirements. It is administered by PRI, consisting of major aerospace OEM’s such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, GE, Honeywell, Raytheon and countless others, and is now 35 years old. A new Additive Manufacturing Task Group was formed in Nadcap in 2023 with 26 active OEMs/Nadcap Subscribing companies driving the technology forward, and the powder bed fusion audit criteria migrated to this group from the Welding Task Group in February 2024. The AM Task Group has developed Audit Criteria for Direct Energy Deposition AM processes to support industry in the development of their supply chains. This new criteria was published in late 2025 following the ballot process, and will begin auditing of suppliers in Q1 2026. At the request of the Nadcap Subscribers, Selective Laser Sintering and Fused Filament Fabrication Audit Criteria are now being developed to support the AM non-metallics area, along with Cold Spray AM for metallic materials. The Nadcap Metallic Materials Manufacture Task Group is also progressing well with the development of Audit Criteria for the manufacture of metallic powder material. This criteria is published and the first powder manufacturing audit was accredited in Oct-2025. This presentation will cover the Nadcap AM program developments, how AM suppliers can get involved, and will include an update on the activities following the Feb-2026 Nadcap meeting.
Learning Objectives:
understand the Nadcap aerospace accreditation process for AM processes
work with their aerospace customers (OEMs) to understand their requirements about AM supply chain accreditation to the Nadcap program
