Abdalla Nassar is the Vice President of AM Forward Technologies at ASTRO America, non-profit, non-partisan research institute. He leads initiatives to accelerate advanced and additive manufacturing (AM) adoption within the US Defense Industrial Base, focusing on enabling research, supporting supplier technology access, and fostering workforce development. Together with Florida State University, he is designing and implementing the advanced manufacturing component of FSU InSPIRE—enabled by a 98.4 million dollar grant from Triumph Gulf Coast.
Previously, Dr. Nassar ws the Enterprise AM Lead for John Deere, where he established global strategies and roadmaps for metal and polymer AM. His leadership integrated AM into product lines, significantly reduced production costs, and established new internal standards.
Prior to John Deere, he was a department head within the Materials Science Division of the Applied Research Laboratory—a US Navy UARC—and an Associate Research Professor at Penn State.
Dr. Nassar has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and holds over a dozen patents. He co-authored "Additive Manufacturing with Metals," which received the 2025 IISE/Joint Publishers Book of the Year award.
