Postdoctoral Fellow
The University of Texas at Austin
Timothy Yap has worked in the 3D printing and additive manufacturing space for 10 years. He has worked on metal laser powder bed fusion in undergrad at his alma mater Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and in his internship in Germany with Nikon SLM Solutions (pre-merger!). Since moving to the United States for grad school, he has worked on powder bed fusion, fused filament fabrication, and 6-axis automated fiber placement for aerospace-grade thermoplastic composite materials with chopped and continuous carbon fibers, publishing highly-cited journal papers and conferences proceedings in the process. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at The University of Texas at Austin, working on multi-material laser-assisted metasurface- (metamask-)enabled holography for vat photopolymerization in the electronics field, with a focus on coding machine learning tools. He is looking for industry opportunities outside of academia in the coming year.
