Ph.D. Candidate
MIT
Nicholas Diaco is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, advised by Prof. A. John Hart. His research focuses on materials and manufacturing innovation, with an emphasis on developing new additive manufacturing processes. He is a Kavanaugh Translational Fellow, NSF Graduate Research Fellow, and MIT Presidential Fellow.
Nick co-invented multi-wavelength resin 3D printing, first prototyped while working at Jabil in 2016. At MIT, he expanded this concept into Selective Solubility Vat Photopolymerization (SSVP) - a dual-wavelength resin printing process that enables dissolvable, recyclable supports and fully automated post-processing. Nick is interested in applications of this technology in dentistry, aerospace, and medicine, and plans to commercialize SSVP following completion of his PhD in 2026.
