Director of AM and CAMS Consortium
Purdue University - CMSC
Dr. Barocio is the founding Director of the Composites Additive Manufacturing and Simulation Consortium and assistant professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue. The mission of the CAMS consortium is to shape the future of the large-scale additive manufacturing field by providing education, validated simulation tools, characterization, and best practices developed on a strong scientific foundation. He is also the founder and director of the Thermwood LSAM Additive Manufacturing Laboratory in the Composites Manufacturing and Simulation Center. Dr. Barocio led the development of the composites additive manufacturing research instrument (CAMRI) and codeveloped a comprehensive physics-based virtual twin for additive manufacturing called Additive3D. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from “Tecnologico de Monterrey” in Mexico, and a PhD in Materials Engineering from Purdue University. Dr. Barocio's area of expertise resides in the realm of physics-based virtual twins for composites manufacturing, a domain that has naturally expanded from his pioneering work in additive manufacturing.
