Neal Orringer is president & CEO of the Applied Science & Technology Research Organization of America (ASTRO America), developing and managing Advanced Manufacturing Accelerators all across the United States.
He has built R&D organizations in leading U.S. corporations, and served as Director of Manufacturing at the Department of Defense/War, as chief manufacturing advisor to two US Secretaries of Commerce, and a national security aide to three US Senators. Among his accomplishments in government was launching Manufacturing USA, a national network of manufacturing institutes in 2012.
Neal's manufacturing industry experience includes stints as an executive at 3D Systems and General Electric. In these roles, he established extensive applied research organizations focused on developing additive manufacturing, primarily to support U.S. government needs.
His volunteer activities have focused on public education, including as president of the Seven Locks PTA and Vice President for Advocacy on the Montgomery County Council of PTAs.
He is a recipient of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Exceptional Civilian Service Medal; Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence; and MILAM Lifetime Achievement Award.
