Chris Blessing: Engineering Manager, Innovation and Applications, Wurtec
I lead additive manufacturing, AI implementation, Innovation, and applications engineering at Wurtec, a full-service supplier to the elevator industry. With over a decade of engineering experience, I drive the full AM workflow from design through production, managing in-house operations on Photocentric LC Magna large-format resin printers. Our team has achieved significant cost savings by insourcing previously outsourced components and optimizing production workflows.
My technical focus spans DfAM implementation using Shapr3D for quick modeling and Blender for functional surface texturing, Creaform 3D scanning for quality assurance and design iteration, and AI tool integration to accelerate design optimization across my team.
I approach advanced manufacturing as both a technical and cultural challenge, demonstrating that mid-sized manufacturers can adopt production-grade AM with the right strategy, tooling, and team development. I mentor engineers at multiple career stages, blending conventional manufacturing expertise with additive capabilities.
Wurtec's work has been featured in case studies with Photocentric and Shapr3D.
