Clayton brings a rare combination of hands-on additive manufacturing expertise and high-level conference strategy to his role at ASTM's AM Center of Excellence, where he produces and manages flagship events including ASTM’s ICAM and the ASTM Innovation Summit at Formnext.
Before moving into events, Clayton spent nearly a decade working directly in AM, from roles at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, where he supported SLS production and DfAM on hundreds of flight-relevant parts, to managing print operations at GoProto. That technical foundation shapes how he thinks about programming: content isn't built in a vacuum; it's built with an understanding of what practitioners need.
At SME, Clayton heavily supported the full conference lifecycle for RAPID + TCT, North America's largest additive manufacturing event, coordinating more than 1,370 speakers over four years and building programming that tracked with the industry's fastest-moving trends. He joined ASTM in 2025, where he now leads event strategy and execution for the AM CoE's growing portfolio.
