Austin Tiley is a lead engineer within the additive division at The Ohio State Universities Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME), where he leads technology integration and alloy development. At night, he is finalizing a PhD in Welding Engineering focused on crack mechanics of gamma prime nickel superalloys. He has multiple beam shaping publications focused on productivity improvements and efficiency studies. With over 8 years of additive experience, he has spent considerable time in machine design, modeling and simulation, and workforce development for LPBF. He is an active member of AWS graduate students, TMS material’s group, and America Makes Materials Swimlane.
